KHARIKHOLA - Named after a river

  • 2,022 meters

After quite a climb past Jubing along a muddy trail, moon dusted by the dance of mules, you will reach Kharikhola. Past the monastery of Pema Namding, the village of Kharikhola respites watching the Kharikhola River.

The settlement is divided into two parts. One is the charming tourist side for travelers and trekkers which has well-equipped lodges, restaurants and even a snooker house. Another side of the village is made up of retail shops, electronics, grocery and clothing stores mostly focused on the locals. Though the volume of visitors is shrinking every year in the outmoded route of Everest, Kharikhola stands charismatic to anyone who is passing through.
