JAGAT - The toll station

  • 1,270 meters

Jagat means 'toll station'. This was once the site of a tax collection post for the Tibetan salt trade through the Marshyangdi valley. This is where it got its name from. Jagat sits in between forests of Chilaune (Schima wallichii), Chestnut (Castanopsis indica) and Pink Siris (Albizzia julibrissin) and has decent lodges. Some 20 minutes away down by the river are some hot springs. Again, nothing fancy here, just nice people and good lodges.
